Spanish designer Gerard Rubio merged knitting and digital technology, allowing people to create very personal wardrobes. His creation, Kniterate, acts as a 3D printer and allows designers to digitally create or edit/use existing projects and transform them into wearable clothes in a matter of hours. The machine can knit scarves, sweaters, dresses, ties, even components of shoes! It’s perfect for handling the mechanical part of knitting, freeing users to focus on the creative aspects of the craft. At the moment, Kniterate is available on Kickstarter for about $5,000.
